Me and My BIG Mouth

I've been a talker all my life. My family will tell you from a young age, I was nicknamed "The Chatterbox". I talked from sun up until sun down and sometimes even after. My 4 year old is the same way. It's very strange to parent a smaller version of yourself. My own mini chatterbox often asks a question, but never pauses long enough to hear the answer you give. He then repeats the question. I remind him that if you ask a question, you need to stop talking long enough to hear the answer :)   He'll get there someday.

I still talk, a lot. I can talk to anyone about anything. I have thoughts and opinions and I am happy to share them. I'm not what you would say a "private" person, but I also know what is TMI! I am fairly straightforward, though I don't like confrontation. I am learning more Godly ways to deal with confrontation. Like pray before you answer. In practice, you might have a few minutes or even a few days to answer the confrontation back, or you might only have a few moments. In such case, "God direct my words", would be sufficient.

I have also recently learned, my words have power. Now some of you may think, "Really, you didn't know that before?" Well, truth be told, I knew they had some power, I didn't realize how much power they had.  I am often removing my foot from my mouth, so to speak...and I really don't like the taste of shoe...so I am working on changing a few things. With God's help of course.  I am working on using my words to encourage, and lift up. So easily I use them to tear down and discourage. I want them to be gentle, even when I am giving correction, whether that is to a friend or my children.
